The Rise of Longbow!

Yes, ok, we're a few days late in announcing the awesomeness that is Longbow, but we've been super-busy and we don't even sleep anymore. (But who needs sleep, really?) In any case, here's a blog post, so... enjoy.

Longbow is now live on http://gocrosscampus.com, and all future games will now be running on the new platform. Spear, our old and exquisitely non-extensible platform, is long gone. Longbow is the new black, and will allow us to do all kinds of cool new world-domination-related stuff.

As you can see, we have a sweet new interface and plenty of new features already implemented, including real-time contiguous movement, commander dossiers, player and team superlatives, and special territories -- as well as plenty more features and enhancements in the pipeline.

Oooh, fun fact: you see that black-and-charcoal diagonal striping going on in the background of the site? That aesthetic was based on a really sweet tie I bought last summer in Ireland and then modified into what later became our website background. Europe is cool like that.

And speaking of Europe, be sure to check out our latest open game, WWII: The European Theatre, a historical re-envisioning of that international battle-thingy they had back in the 40's... except in GXC every country is in a free-for-all trying to conquer Western Europe... and the US doesn't exist... and all the Soviet territories are in Cyrillic. Anyway, just play it, you can't go wrong. Go ahead, revise history to your liking, it's fun. Note that the current battle plan for the Soviet Union team is "KILL ITALY. We are FRIENDS with Germany! Yay beer!" If that doesn't inspire you to greatness, I don't know what will. Maybe a battleship filled with ice cream, but that's totally irrelevant.
